Edition accompanying the solo exhibition Hidden Valley, December 2022–March 2023.

Michael Günzburger’s drawings from Hidden Valley in Joshua Tree National Park emerged from a 2018 research trip to California focused on the topic of skin. While camping among the monzogranite boulders, Günzburger selected geological forms that interested him and translated them into drawings. The rock formations became signs and, removed from their original context, transformed into memories and imaginary entities open to different associations. The series was drawn continuously until the last page of the blank book was filled. A set of 36 drawings from the original book was published as an edition of two.
